Description
Try our new and improved Kolachi Cookies!
(A smaller version of our large rolls. May also be available in their close cousin the Italian Nut Horn.)
This roll is made with our fresh homemade dough & walnut filling. Each roll weighs a minimum of 1.5 lbs (24oz), almost twice the size of some of our competitors.
Quality Ingredients
Our nut rolls are homemade from scratch in small batches, just like our Grandparents did! We use ingredients you can pronounce - eggs, flour, sugar, and of course... butter! What you would consider real food. No artificial ingredients, fillers, additives, or preservatives. Great baked goods start with the best ingredients, and there is no substitute for the flavor of real butter!
More Filling Please!
Have you ever cut a nut roll in half and wondered where the filling is? Is it nothing but bread? Making every roll as if we were going to eat it, we like more filling than dough... so that's exactly how we make them! By weight, there is actually more filling in each roll than dough! This makes it very soft and moist, never dry. Walnuts are actually the number one ingredient! We grind fresh walnuts to make our filling. The walnuts are ground straight into our mixing bowl. They don't come in already ground, or sit around and dry out. They are made into filling, spread on dough, and off to the oven.
And let's talk more about Butter...
As you would expect from the name, we use real butter. No blends that call themselves butter. Blends contain cheap vegetable oils such as margarine and shortening, which are almost always "hydrogenated" or "partially hydrogenated". They are otherwise known as the very harmful "trans fats" you hear about, and they have no business being in any nut roll! You've probably heard all the bad about margerine and shortening, but we bet you didn't know that real butter contains vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids that protect against heart disease and cancer.
Storage
All rolls come vacuum sealed. This makes a great difference keeping the rolls as fresh as possible. We know some customers cringe when they hear "freezer" in the same sentence with baked goods, but... Since no chemical additives or preservatives are in our rolls, freezing is the best natural preservative. They may be stored in the freezer for up to a year if vacuum sealed, and up to 6 months if not vacuum sealed but wrapped well. Compare to a high processed commercial roll, containing preservatives to keep them fresh. What are you keeping fresh? They are filled with very little real flavor, heavy on fillers, artificial flavors & colors - to make them look and taste like real food.

In NY no one knows how to made them!!! They are dry and have no filling.
With family coming I went to the internet and found you. Chosen because you are a Pa. bakery. You were the right choice!!!!
Your nut rolls are wonderful moist and rich in butter and flavor. And there is tons of filling in each bite. Even the ends!!!!! Love love love. Thank you for my childhood memory!!!!
apricot kolachi
Love love love...I am very pickie about these cookies. I grew up in western Pa and know the best. You have gone beyond!!! The dough is sweet and buttery full of flavor and the filling is full!!1 Lots of apricots and sweetened just right not like sugary jelly. Still has the true apricot tang and tartness. And you don't skimp in filling they are full. It might sound corny but they melt in your mouth!!! Even the sugar topping just right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a ten out of 10

Suggestion-we have found that placing the roll in the over @ 350 for 15 minutes does great as it seems as if shipping may be done when rolls are still warm and may seem a little unbaked.
